Bandon U-18s began their season is style with a comprehensive victory over visitors Dunmanway. Applying pressure from the first minute a Bandon side, led by captain Allen Donnelly, scored early through Cameron Blair. A solid scrum added to Bandon’s control in the lineout, provided a platform for outhalf, Luke Fleming to dictate the pace in the early stages. A resilient Dunmanway defence kept Bandon at bay until strong runs by James Joyce and Barry Twomey provided the go-forward for Fleming and Blair to add two further tries before the break. Dunmanway’s tight five drove well up the pitch to score a pushover try. Half-time 19-5.
Dunmanway had the best of the opening stages of the second half, again crossing for a solid forward’s. Kieran Walsh and David McGrath combined well with fullback Olan Fehily to create space for Blair to complete his hat-trick not long after the break. Killian Buckley, at scrum-half, directed the pack up field leading to two quality tries for Kieran Walsh. Bandon’s strength at the set-piece continued to show as Michael Hards and Fiachra Harrington made hard yards across the field. Luke Fleming added a seventh, through his second try at the final whistle.
