Dear Club Members,
As the new season is about to get underway here at headquarters in Old Chapel, it is fantastic to see our J1’s pre-season training well under way. We welcome back familiar faces and are delighted to some new faces at training.
We wish our new Head Coach Darragh McNamara and assistant coaches the very best of luck for the coming season. This year Darragh will be assisted by Timmy Crowley, Santiago Gonzales, Will Canavan, Guille Castex and team Manager Niall Mahony.
We also welcome back our very dear friend Regis Sonnes to Bandon RFC. Regis will be a fantastic addition to Bandon Rugby Club as we continue to build our underage for the future.
On Saturday 5th August our U18’s depart from Bandon RFC for what can only be described as a “trip of a lifetime”. Our U18’s will tour South Africa for 16 days where they will play local clubs and experience the beauty of South Africa. Touring is part of every rugby player’s journey and this tour is sure to live long in the memory of all these U18’s players. Great credit to Gary McCormack and his team on putting this tour together. Safe travels and have a great tour lads.
Our J1’s and J2’s teams are also heading on tour. Not to South Africa but closer to home! They head to Galway for a pre-season friendly to take on Galwegians. This should prove to be a great bonding weekend for the lads.
Myself and Vice President Eamonn Guinevan are looking forward to the 23/24 season on what we hope will be a great year both on and off the field for Bandon RFC. As always clubs can’t operate without the support of members so please come out in force this year and support all our games in Old Chapel. Your support means a lot to the boys on the pitch. Afterwards please come in and enjoy the atmosphere in the club.
Yours in Rugby,
Bob Brady
President 2023/2024
