Presidents Message – June 2020
Hello to all members and Friends of Bandon Rugby.
I hope you are all safe and well in these very strange and difficult times. The countrys lockdown in March saw a very abrupt end to the 2019-20 season and since then I am sure all your priorities have been keeping yourself and your family safe and sound,
As the country slowly starts to reopen, the horizon is radically changed and what form our game will return is still somewhat unknown. Obviously, the Club policy is driven by public health and government policy and IRFU policy. This has been shaped by the game’s administrators over that past few weeks and direction is beginning to emerge. In some ways it is helpful that we are in our closed season and can use this to allow us to plan so as to ensure that our club can return to play in a safe environment for all participants. Details of this will be communicated over the coming weeks. A tremendous amount of work and planning is already taking place in the background.
To update on other matters briefly;
- The Club AGM had to be deferred because of the lockdown and will be rescheduled and a new date communicated.
- Our Club lotto was also deferred during the lockdown and our plan is to now restart our weekly draws via Facebook Live. The weekly draws that have been missed will take place in a similar fashion.
- Our grounds maintenance program has started like previous summers and will continue throughout the summer. The Covid pandemic did not stop the grass growing!
- Because of the abrupt halt to the season funding of the club is proving quite challenging and plans are also being put in place to address this area.
Any assistance in any of the above areas will be gratefully appreciated.
The Club will communicate again shortly but in the meantime please all stay safe.
